Bianca shirt
Another test. After getting confident with the success of my Rae skirt, I tried the Bianca shirt from Make My Lemonade (again with the “babushka paisley” I bought in Kyrgyzstan). This one didn’t turn out as well, and I haven’t worn it out in public. I keep meaning to tear it apart and attempt to fix it but I’m so unmotivated. It’s so so so baggy on me. The pattern was difficult to put together in some spots, so I may have ended up with bigger pattern pieces than I should have. The back is strangely larger than the front, so even if I tuck in the shirt, it all pools in the back.
Plus, I’m not sure what I was thinking making my second project from a pattern whose only instructions are a French video. Over-ambitious or just crazy? The collar was the main part that gave me trouble (other than the overall fit), but now that I’ve constructed a real collar with English instructions (an Alder shirtdress, stay tuned!), this was probably just because I’ve never made on before. Maybe with the right fabric I could make this again, but I would need to reprint and reassemble the pattern. I’m not sure if I’m up for the potential disappointment again!
Oh well, it was a free pattern, cheap fabric, and a learning experience. I had imagined that it would be super cool to wear this paired with my Rae skirt in the same fabric, but maybe the world is better off not seeing that come to fruition anyway.
